Look at graphics in the text panel in the December release of Premiere Pro.
Contemporary creators, editors, and animators understand that graphics add impact to video and that Adobe gives them the tools to create them. The December release of Creative Cloud video apps expands these capabilities with powerful text and shape tools in Premiere Pro and innovations that accelerate puppet design and animation in Adobe Character Animator. Also in this release, performance improvements and workflow improvements in Premiere Pro will help editors continue their creativity.
What’s new in Premiere Pro
New tools for searching and spell checking for titles and graphics
Adobe has created a lot of modern graphics tools, and that pedigree shines brightly in the latest release of Premiere Pro. With the new Text panel, first introduced for the Speech to Text and Annotations workflow, editors can now search all titles and graphics in their sequence and perform global search and replace along with spelling. This makes it easy to correct typos or misspellings of names in sequence with dozens or even hundreds of drawings, which can save hours on large projects. In addition to text searches, clicking individual graphics within the text panel provides an efficient way to navigate through the sequences.
The new universal text engine makes it easy to work with different languages and texts, even within the same graphic. Creators in the Middle East and South Asia who use right-to-left scripts now have all the controls they need in a basic graphics panel.
New Shape Tools
New shape tools allow editors and creators to add polygons to their drawings with precise scaling controls and the ability to add and adjust rounded corners. Users who are familiar with Adobe’s design tools in applications like Photoshop and Illustrator will feel right at home with Premiere Pro’s enhanced shape tools.
Premiere Pro allows users to take advantage of the latest technologies. New hardware acceleration for Apple M1 Pro and M1 Max systems delivers up to 5X faster performance for 4K and 8K ProRes formats. High-resolution HEVC formats are also faster on all Apple Silicon Mac devices running macOS 12.
Display technology improvements on Windows systems with integrated GPUs will see operating performance improvements ranging from 5 percent to 40 percent across all formats. Color Match is now 30 percent faster, the shot matching workflow is faster, and two other effects are now accelerated with the GPU.
What’s new in Character Animator
Start creating faster with Doll Maker
Animation increases viewer interaction with video content and the new Puppet Maker gives content creators the tools they need to create, customize, and animate their own characters in Adobe Character Animator. Previously, users had to first create and prepare a layered puppet in Photoshop or Illustrator, or use one of the pre-built puppets in Character Animator. Puppet Maker gives users the ability to instantly get started with Character Animator and the freedom to design their character from a variety of styles, without ever leaving the app.
Once created, creators can use their webcam or a connected camera to animate their characters using their own voices, facial expressions, and body movements. Performance Capture provides a highly interactive and powerful workflow for recording and optimizing animations, and Puppet Maker makes this innovative toolkit available to any content creators who wish to incorporate animations into their content, such as social media posts or characters in explainer videos.
Create animation with text
The latest version of Character Animator expands the option for illustrators in other directions, too: a new text-based lip-sync allows creators to animate their character’s mouth movements using typed text or transcription, including texts created with Speech to Text in Premiere Pro. The new feature is only available in English, and delivers more accurate results thanks to the power of Adobe Sensei.
What’s new in After Effects
The latest version of After Effects includes the new global text engine, described above, and the latest version of Cinema 4D Lite with full version support for Maxon Cinema 4D R25.
Adobe is committed to performance and ensuring that new features meet the needs of our users before we go into release versions of our apps. The public beta makes this possible by inviting our user community to try out features in development and share their feedback with our product teams. Beta versions of Adobe video and audio applications can be installed via the Creative Cloud desktop app.
